Most adults suffering from dyslexia get diagnosed with it well into their adulthood. If they had taken a dyslexia screening test as children they would have been spared a lot of misery and torment. However just because you have not been given a chance to overcome your dyslexia does not mean that you cannot do so. In fact there is no age at which you cannot tackle your dyslexia and lie a better and more fulfilling life. The first step towards taking a dyslexia screening test is understanding the symptoms which accompany it. There are many symptoms that dyslexia has in common with other learning disorders such as adhd, add, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia etc. Most of these disabilities will have a few symptoms in common such as poor short term memory, poor organization skills, very short attention spans, misdirection in life. Dyslexics on the other hand apart from having these symptoms will also suffer from inability to tell similar looking or sounding words or letters apart, such as d, p, b. They will also stutter a lot while speaking and their speech will seem laborious. Another prominent symptom here is that they will misplace or switch sounds and letters in words, for instance helicopter will be written as hekliopter, library as raibrary, said will be written as sed, mother as mader etc. If you have suffered from any of the symptoms above then it is recommended that you get yourself diagnosed by taking a dyslexia screening test as soon as possible. This will quickly and easily diagnose whether or not you have dyslexia so that the proper remedial action can be undertaken. If you do realise that you are dyslexic then you should approach a qualified professional psychologist who can help you develop coping strategies with which you can over come the worst of your dyslexia and lead a more confident, happy and fulfilling life.
