More than four deaths occur each year in the United States due to smoking-related issues. Smoking is responsible for lung cancer and it is a deadly addiction. The nicotine in tobacco smoke is addictive and due to this, it is very difficult to quit smoking. However, let me add here that it is possible to quit. If you quit smoking, it makes the quality of your life better instantly. You start tasting and smelling food better. You get rid of cough and risks of cancer, stroke and scores of heart and lung diseases. Your health improves and you save the money spent on expensive cigarettes. Let me list some tips for quitting smoking that will be helpful to you:

Specific Date: When you have decided that you will give up smoking, it is not that you will stop it completely in a day's time. If you do so, there could be serious harmful effects on your health. This will be due to withdrawal symptoms. Your body is used to the nicotine; you cannot deny it completely from a day. You have to gradually bring down the number of cigarettes per day and then stop it completely. There has to be a plan that you must design for yourself and resolve to follow it. For this the most important thing is to start from a particular date. You could start from a day like your child's birthday or some occasion to mark it. Then set a reasonable date for quitting completely beyond which you shall never smoke. This will give you a period to get your body used to less and less nicotine. In case you have a friend who also wishes to quit, then it is better if you both start together.

Reasons for smoking and giving up: Determine when to get the urge to smoke during the day. Do you smoke to counter a tense situation? Do you smoke due to anxiety? Maybe you work pressure drives you to reach for a cigarette? Ask yourself if smoking really helps the situation to get better in any way. Then jot down the reasons why you wish to give up smoking. Reasons could be due to persuasion from loved ones, your own health issues, and too much dependence on smoking or peer pressure. Try to convince yourself that smoking solves nothing. In fact, it only brings in illnesses. Such reasoning with yourself will help you give up the habit soon. If possible, reason positively everyday. /? " Electric Tobacco Machine

Change of smoking habits: After reducing the number of cigarettes per day, try tactics with yourself like keeping your cigarettes beyond your reach. Keep cigarettes at places where you will have to make an effort to get them from, book yourself in non-smoking flights, restaurants or any place that has an option; this way you force yourself to stay away from smoking, smoke with the other hand so its difficult and inconvenient for you, smoke only outdoors, etc. By following such tips for quitting smoking, you are helping yourself to give it up.

Alternatives: When you get the urge to smoke try doing something else like nibble on carrot or bread sticks, pop in a mint pill in your mouth or try chewing gum. Even drinking a glass of water will help.

Targets and reward: In you plan try to reduce the number of cigarettes gradually. For instance if you smoke ten in a day, bring this number down to 6 or 7 and after a few days, lower it further. Reward yourself if you stick to your plan. Gift yourself something you always wanted to buy or go out with your family. This way you will further motivate yourself to stay away from tobacco. /?
