Depression and anxiety plague our society. It takes nothing more than flipping on the TV or glancing at the newspaper to be flooded with words and images that negatively reinforce these feelings. Make no mistake. There are no neutral thoughts. The subconscious mind absorbs you reactions to and interactions with the world around you, building an internal file on which it draws to guide your thoughts and behavior.

Negative Thoughts Harm

The most healthy point to reach in your thinking is one of balance. Everyone gets "down," has periods of being sad, or feeling nervous about a project, event, or relationship. The problem is when those thoughts become a self-feeding loop. It's an easy trap to fall into. If you're worried about your job security in an unstable economy and then spend hours reading about oil spilling into the ocean, it's not a far leap to, "The world is coming to an end."

Worry Breeds Worry

When your mind worries about one thing, it automatically jumps around and finds other things to worry about. Like Alice in Wonderland, it's headed down a rabbit hole of twisted perceptions and strange situations. If worry breeds worry, it also gives birth to depression. Suddenly it seems there's no way to climb up out of the rabbit hole, and you're so immobilized with feels of dread and defeat, you don't even want to try.

Positive Thoughts Heals

The only antidote to negative thinking is a switch to the positive. In a world where the news cycle is filled with negative stimuli and we have real concerns about our environmental future and economic stability, it is imperative to take charge of what's going on inside your own head and find that ray of healing light. It won't make the world's problems or your own go away, but it will start to change your perception, to break the downward depressive spiral, and to get you moving forward again.

Progress Starts Inside

The subconscious mind, which is so efficient at absorbing all the negative stimuli around you, can be "reprogrammed." You actually do this a million times a day, but not in a directed, goal-oriented way. This is the point at which most people start protesting. "Don't tell me to meditate, because it doesn't work for me" or "I don't have time to fiddle with some self-hypnosis recording, I'm busy." Of course, you are. That's why there's a better way.

Subliminal recordings pitch their content at a frequency too low for the human ear to consciously comprehend. They do not require the listener to go into some sort of "trance." In fact, they don't require the listener to do anything at all except hit the "play" button. Subliminal materials can be used safely in a variety of settings and they focus on positive affirmations that break-up and redirect negative thought patterns.

To achieve the mental balance necessary for a healthy attitude, counter the negative stimuli the world so readily supplies with a positive, subliminal counterattack. Think of it as a "prescription" to ward off depression and anxiety before they cripple your life and thwart your goals. After all, it isyoursubconscious mind. Use that hidden power to take charge of your thoughts rather than simply reacting to an inner program you didn't write and don't want.
