It is completely true that laziness is the major reason behind stress in today's society. Throughout history, many great philosophers have noted that failing to act at the right moment often causes anxiety. William James, an American philosopher felt nothing could be as stressful as the everlasting hanging of an unfinished task.

In case you've made it a habit to put off tasks that you're afraid of doing-if you keep avoiding events and situations that you are terrified of-your fears have exceeded limits. Each time you choose to avoid doing something since your afraid of failure, your self-confidence gets affected. The only way of overcoming fear is-to make yourself do what you are afraid of. By facing your fear and doing it anyway, you are giving your confidence a huge boost. Soon you'll be laughing at all imaginary fears which have been preventing you from being all that you could be. And today, you could do something about that.

Establish goals. Prioritize. Keep measuring your progress. Get feedback from office mates and friends. If necessary, adjust your goals. Reward yourself at the time of finishing your job. In case you head a group, get lazy people to encourage one another. Help them in overcoming their fear of not being able to get things done. You can get help from a mentor to overcome your fear. I recite this verse of the Bible (Phil. 4:13) when I need to do something I fear: "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."

Be true to yourself while estimating the amount of time it will take for you to things you don't want to. We often put off a lot of simple tasks. This adds up to our stress which becomes totally out of proportion when compared to the amount of time they take to get completed. Think about the last time you actually completed a job you dreaded much earlier than you expected. Is it possible for you to learn from that experience and put it to use in completing an unfinished task? Researchers have revealed that workers usually waste about 1/3rd of their workday. The workers keep complaining that they do not have enough time to complete their jobs which causes chronic stress. Do you see the link? The lesser you achieve, the more you keep suffering from anxiety and stress.

The only solution is to figure out the root cause and measure the way you spend time. Keep track of the time you spend doing things you don't really have to do. Note down the things that need more efficiency. Try doing this for a complete workday. Upon analyzing your list, it may shock you to see how much of your workday you have wasted. List out those useless activities that you need to keep in check or eliminate totally. Probably you do not control the cause which has made you waste all this time. Question yourself about the possible measures you can take to eliminate these uncontrollable things.

Just as how the Mad Hatter told Alice, "If you knew time, as well as I do, you wouldn't talk about wasting it."
