One of the major aspects of a First Communion celebration is giving gifts to the child in question, along with party dresses or suits, lists of those attending and party supplies and decorations. Giving gifts as your child enters into covenants with Christ and officially becomes a Church member is a great way to celebrate this holy and special day.

Something that many parents do is put what types of gifts are allowed on the invitations so that parents know that you would prefer a more traditional gift for your child, and maintain the spirit of the day. These type of First Holy Communion Gifts can be anything from Scriptures to music or even Catholic books. First Communion presents that are more traditional can be found almost anywhere and tradition First Communion Gifts

If non-traditional gifts and more fun presents are allowed put those instructions on your invitations as well so that guests who are attending will know that they are allowed to bring items like that. That way they can get First Communion keepsakes that your child will love. You will likely still have some more traditional First Communion gifts from some people as well.

Also, you can specify how much to spend on gifts on your invite cards so that parents and family members don't feel obligated to spend a lot of money on a gift for your child. This keeps all of the gifts that will be received around the same price and won't break the banks of those attending. Any gifts that your child gets, no matter how much it costs will be exciting for the child receiving the First Communion gifts.

If you are having trouble finding enough money for all the decorations, food and clothes that are required for a First Communion, a terrific idea is to have family members contribute gifts in the form of the First Communion clothes. These dresses and suits can be expensive and it can help a lot to have family members contribute their gifts that way.

If you prefer, you can also ask some guests to bring party decorations to help you set up the party instead of a gift. They may have decorations from parties already and it can save you a lot of time and money to have them provide some of the decorations. Also, you can ask people to bring food as a gift, which will keep you from spending all day in the kitchen and save them some money on gifts as well.

If you are going traditional, then you can either go to a Catholic shop in your local city or you can save a little bit of money and buy online. There are thousands of websites that carry traditional Catholic gifts that will work perfectly for First Communion gifts. Just make sure that you don't put off getting your First Communion gifts until the last second if you are getting them online, because they will need time to be shipped.

Whichever you choose you'll certainly want at least one keepsake for you or for your child that has their name and the date of the First Communion printed or engraved on it. That way you have something to put on display in your home to remember this wonderful, spirit filled experience that will make this party last in the minds of you and your guests and child for many years.
