It is rare when someone can achieve anxiety mental health without knowing how to manage this natural feeling of worry and/or nervous tension. Notice I didn't say eliminate, since anxiety is part of our genetic makeup which has allowed human beings to survive for thousands of years. This uncomfortable defense mechanism is known as our fight or flight mechanism.

When fight or flight occurs our bodies are flooded with hormones such as adrenaline which are produced in our endocrine glands leading to a narrowing of focus, breathing to shallow, heart rate to increase, sweating to occur, and so on and so forth. So from a pure physiological perspective a couple of ways to achieve anxiety mental health are to either burn off those excess hormones or figure out a way to deflect the nervous tension in a way that cuts the flight or flight response short, before it really has a chance to do any serious damage.

If you were to take a trip to a professional counselor, he might suggest avoiding the traumatic event altogether, but it seems to me that in most cases that while a good idea in theory, in reality it may not be anything more than a half baked solution. For instance what if your struggles with anxiety and worry weren't  physical at all, rather events caused by mental images and thoughts. These thoughts may have initially been triggered by a physical event but now have taken on a life of their own living inside both our conscious and subconscious minds. For example, I recently saw an interview with a well respected athlete who at the end of his long career had performed poorly during the big event. He said, that not a day goes by when he doesn't think about what happened.

You certainly don't have to be a star athlete to experience this type of anxiety. For example any serious person loss, whether it be financial or personal can linger for years turning a once proud and successful human being into mere shell of themselves.

On the other hand many of these individuals have been able to set their anxiety and worry aside only to rise from the ashes to make their lives even better than they were before.

Let's look at a five natural ways for achieving  anxiety mental health:

*You must believe things will ultimately get better: After anxiety has beaten you down for while it may be difficult to realize that things eventually will get better. There have been many quotes over the years that encapsulate this positive thinking idea with my favorite being, "It is not how many times life knocks you down rather how many times you are able to get up".

*Breathe deep: The next time worry and nervous tension comes calling take ten deep breaths, slowly inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.

*Walking and yoga: A little exercise often times can go a long way in achieving anxiety mental health. When you exercise you are burning off excess stress hormones and producing much needed feel good endorphins.

*Make a deal with yourself to only live in the present: What happened yesterday is old news and no one knows for sure what will happen tomorrow. So focus in on the here and now and move forward from this point.

*Consider a natural anxiety supplement : Sometimes despite your best efforts you may fail to achieve anxiety mental health. If this is the case one of a number of natural anxiety supplements just might give you the edge you need to gain the upper hand on this dangerous foe.
