Most people at some point in their lives have tried to lose weight. They have gone on crazy bizarre diets. Some cut out whole food groups. What if I told you that there are foods that help you lose weight? It's actually not as crazy as it sounds. There are many foods that can aid in weight loss, including fruits and vegetables.

Fruits and vegetables are known to be healthy but many don't realize that they can help you to drop unwanted pounds due to the negative calorie effect. The negative calorie effect simply means that you burn more calories eating the food then is in the food itself.

Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables actually makes it easier to lose weight and keep it off. It's a fact that meals that contain high quantities of fruits and vegetables burn about sixteen percent more calories then meals with little to no fruits and vegetables.

Another benefit of eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is that those high in vitamin C like lemons, oranges, apples, tomatoes, broccoli, and watermelon can actually liquefy your body fat making it that much easier for it to be flushed out.

Apples help to burn fat because of the pectin found in them. The pectin helps to prevent your body from absorbing fat. It actually helps to release the fat. The pectin also helps to suppress your appetite which can prevent snacking and overeating. Studies have shown that if you eat an apple before lunch you will lose up to thirty three percent more then if you didn't.

Raw figs are another of the foods that help you lose weight. This fruit contains ficin which is a chemical that helps clean your colon. This can help you to lose up to ten pounds in just one week.

Studies done have shown grapefruits help you to lose up to a pound every week. All you need to do is add half a grapefruit to your daily diet and you will lose weight. This is due to a compound found in the grape fruit that lowers insulin which is a fat storing hormone.

There are many foods that help you lose weight. When you eat plenty of fresh raw fruits and vegetables you are helping yourself to lose weight in many ways. One of the most shocking reasons that fruits and vegetables are foods that help you to lose weight is that they have a negative calorie effect. Meaning that often you burn more calories then you are eating.
