A lot of people would rather prepare their own colon cleansing recipes. These recipes are usually easy since you are the one choosing the ingredients. This way, you are ensured that the mixture contains no harmful chemicals or preservatives.

When performing a colon cleansing, it is always best to put safety first. Make sure the recipe asks for the safest ingredients. Take recipes from credible resources only and make sure to follow the steps carefully. Always consult a physician before performing a cleansing. Your doctor might even give you recipe recommendations. It is also a good idea to ask for additional information such as any special foods that you need to eat while doing self cleansing. Here are some of the simpler colon cleansing recipes:

1. Raw Egg Yolk Recipe

Egg yolks are very nutritious as they contain many vitamins and minerals needed by the body. This recipe is quite simple - all you need to drink is a few teaspoons of egg yolks that you mix with either vegetable juice or milk. You can also use egg yolks as a dressing but it is important to use the right vegetables as salad ingredients. Vegetables that aid digestion and have detoxifying properties are best. Mix the egg yolks with extra virgin olive oil, salt, honey and apple cider vinegar to make the dressing and enjoy a hefty serving of cleansing salad.

2. Salt Water Cleanse

Using a salt water cleanse is an alternative for people who don't like getting colonic irrigation or enemas. You basically make a broth composed of sea salt and water. Bring this to a boil and let cool before drinking. After drinking this recipe you will experience diarrhea. It is very important that you take a probiotic after doing a salt water flush since this method also washes away the good bacteria that are essential to our bodies.

3. Purees and Broths

Purees and broths are easily digestible so these types of foods are gentle on your digestive system. Purees make the absorption of nutrients easier as the digestive system doesn't have to work so much to break down its components. You can make purees out of a combination of lean meats and vegetables. You can add those cleansing herbs with this broth. You can also add spices or season according to your liking. Broths made from fish and lean chicken have many nutrients that are beneficial to the colon. Most people are not aware that these parts have nutritive value and usually discard them.

4. Vegetable Soup

To make a colon cleansing soup, you will need vegetable stock - preferably homemade - and vegetables with high fiber content such as broccoli, cucumbers and tomatoes. You can also mix in a variety of herbs and spices such as cilantro, garlic and parsley to make the taste more interesting. Just because you are cleansing doesn't mean you have to subsist on bland food. Vegetable soups can be served either hot or cold.

Whatever recipe you choose or even when you make your own just remember that the recipe must contain only the most natural ingredients.
