Wedding receptions are primarily a component of the couple’s total special day. There is much custom and traditions connected to wedding receptions. Fun reception ideas for the do it yourself wedding is uniquely special because the bride and groom have their own planned traditions and activities for the guests to enjoy.

Several traditions are available that can be modified to suit the desires of the bridge and groom but usually the reception hallway is central to the various commotions caused by executing customs including the chair dance, the couple drinking champagne together, first dance with daughter and father, mother and son and finally the couple dancing together. Between the serving of food, there are other activities based upon religious and familial customs. It’s all great fun, lots of eating and merriment. Usually reception activities are planned in advance, although in both formal and do-it-yourself wedding, reception activities can sometimes go awry.

Usually the activities have nothing to do with the design theme beyond some basic but very important items. The questions that must be asked include:

- How huge is the dance area?

- Where the top table would be situated?

- Is there an area where the activities can take place safely?

- DJ – Is there going to be a professional DJ, or are the services of old Uncle Albert who did some local DJ’ing back in the 60s going to suffice?

- Where is the photographer going to be situated?

- Is there enough room for the kids, who will be bored by the second toast, to run around and play in the background?

These are just some of the basic questions that need to be addressed when setting up the hall.

One good fun wedding reception idea for the Do It Yourself Wedding is a floating rose display as the centerpiece. You can make it with minimum difficulty, by beginning with any huge clear glass container full of water. Add a few red or pink floating candles on the water, spray synthetic rose petals in the water and lay rose petals about the table top. The synthetic rose petals can be purchased from any wedding supply store or candle shop. They are created of acetate, which is a silk-like substance.

If you're creating your own wedding favors, you’re going to need to decide on something that is going to represent your wedding or personality. Is the wedding going to be formal or laid back and does this carry over to the reception? These questions can help you create a favor you’re your wedding guests. To make the favors even more special, consider styling a wedding favor tag. Wedding favor labels could be prepared on your home PC and attached to the wedding party favors.

Holiday wedding themes make it simple and cool to make your very own favors. Choose a motif that fits the season or the holiday. For instance, small pine cones can be decorated for weddings that take place at Christmas time. The trees are given out to beautify wedding guests' homes right around the Christmas season. You might add caramel apples for weddings that take place in autumn. Place the completed apples in apparent bags with tie that go with the colors and decoration of the wedding. Spiced tea bags like cinnamon-apple can be utilized for weddings in the autumn as well.

Create a personalized wedding favor tag with the names of the groom and of the bride as well as the wedding date and attach it to the favor bag for just the right touch of pizzazz. Your guests will find your reception fun and memorable and leave with a tiny reminder of the wonderful event.

To your beautiful wedding reception!
