Are you planning to get breast augmentation, but the thought of surgery and procedure is holding you back? No need to panic, you can prepare yourself by gaining knowledge about the procedure and consulting the experienced and well trained plastic surgeon.
Breast augmentation is a plastic surgery procedure which uses breast implants to alter the size and shape of the breasts. It is performed on men and women all over the world.
Women seek breast enlargement due to small breasts in order to enhance their looks and some wants to balance the congenital breast asymmetry. Some women who have lost breast tissue due to aging or children want to get in shape by this procedure.
There are many pre-requisites for breast enlargement procedures. Firstly, you should be in a relatively good health and should not have fluctuating weight. Weight should be constant. Secondly, you should not be pregnant or nursing at the time of procedure. Heavy dieting and fasting should be avoided before and after the surgery.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and it takes about an hour and a half to complete the procedure. Breast augmentation are used for enlargement of breast. The most common implants are the saline and silicone implants. Saline implants have silicone shell with saline solution in center and are more commonly used as they require small incision to insert it and saline solution is absorbed by the body. The silicone implants are prefilled with semi-liquid silicone gel and require large incision and has a risk of creating complications in the long run and thus requires frequent visiting to doctor. These implants can be placed below or above the muscle that is either sub-glandular or sub-muscular.
The results are usually desirable and you can resume your work after a week of surgery and scars begin to fade within 4 to 6 weeks.
You can meet your surgeon and he can guide you about the best suitable implant and its placement. It is always better to take the opinion of the surgeon and know about the pros and cons of the procedure.
