Smoking is a very easy habit to acquire but can be a very difficult one to kick off. But remember, it can be a difficult one - not an impossible one. It has been seen that normally first few days and first few weeks are the most difficult time when a person decides to quit smoking. This is because cigarettes contain nicotine which is a highly addictive drug. Continued consumption of nicotine ensures that your body can't live without it. So when you stop taking it for some time you feel a strong craving for it. This is perhaps the reason why many people give in to their temptations within the first few weeks. So now the question comes, what to do in such a case? How to get rid of this habit as easily as possible? The answer is right here. You can follow some of these easy ways to stop smoking:

  • The best way to get rid of any habit is to be in a positive state of mind. Be happy with yourself and your surroundings and have a strong determination that you can do it. The urge to smoke is mainly connected with your mind rather than your body. So if you have control over your mind you can have instant control over that urge. Meditation is very helpful in increasing your mental strength. This is one of the most easy ways to stop smoking.
  • Stop buying full packets of cigarettes. It is obvious that you tend to over smoke when you have cigarette easily available to you. Get rid of this habit. So that you smoke only when you really feel that urge and not because you have it in your pocket.
  • Start collecting the money you save from buying cigarettes. You will soon realize how much money you were actually wasting on it.
  • Make it a habit to deep breathe whenever you feel the craving for a smoke. Deep breathing increases the regulation of oxygen in your bloodstream thereby curbing that urge to smoke.
  • Make a list of all the reasons that are a source of stress in your daily life and make it a point not to smoke whenever that event occurs.
  • Start the use of nicotine replacements. They are available in the form of chewing gums, nasal sprays etc. keep them with you all the time. This will easily get you rid of cigarettes and once you are completely resistant you can discontinue their use as well.
