It is very easy for us to be overwhelmed with our workload. In fact, at the beginning of the week, just thinking about all that we are supposed to accomplish can leave us feeling disheartened. The upshot of all this is to procrastinate, because after all, who can climb a mountain that big?

Prioritization

There's a workaround to this, and it's called prioritization. The first thing we need to get in our heads is the fact that not everything can be done at once. It is impossible, for instance, to finish all the fifteen tasks for the week on Monday.

Simply ridding yourself of all that unnecessary pressure can make you feel a lot better about yourself, and that's half the battle won.

Having gotten yourself down to simple the first three tasks on your list, rather than fifteen to worry about, focus upon the second step in the challenge. And this involves breaking up those three tasks into smaller challenges, with definite goals set for the hours before lunch.

Make sure that these hours before lunch contain tasks that are reasonably simple, and have a good chance of being definitively over. The simple act of ticking items off on your list will make the rest of the day, and indeed the week, seem a lot easier.

And once you have successfully negotiated Monday, of course, Tuesday becomes that much more simpler. And so on and so forth. And what seemed like an insurmountable climb at the beginning of the week suddenly becomes a pleasant stroll towards the summit.

In other words, no matter what you do in life, if the challenge in front of you looks too difficult to tackle all at one go, simply prioritize. And try and have goals in sets of three – forget about the rest of it for the time being.

Why three? Simpler, for one. Easier to remember, for another. And most importantly, any more goals for the day and you run the risk of setting yourself up for disappointment. Three sounds like a nice, easy doable number.
