Most people refer to goal setting and affirmations as two separate activities. In truth, affirmations are an integral part of setting your direction in life. You first need to know that when goal setting is done correctly it covers the following:

  • The Physical
  • The Emotional
  • The Mental
  • The Spiritual
  • The Relational

When you do not recognize and evaluate the effect of a goal on each part of your life you could end up out of balance. Depending upon where you are imbalanced you could become ill, have difficulty in your relationships, feel overwhelmed, or feel disconnected from yourself and others.

The Physical

Everything you do has an effect upon your physical body. Are you so focused on a particular outcome that you neglect your diet, exercise, relaxation or sleep? To remain balanced, it's imperative to set goals for your physical well-being. Once you have your goals, then develop a declarative positive statement to summarize your overall desires for your body. /? 160510" Goal Setting Story

The Emotional

Stress is, quite literally, a killer. What are you going to do to balance stress? If you neglect any part of your life (see above list) you are going to be stressed out. Some of the emotional ramifications are:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Obsessiveness
  • Irritability
  • Frustration
  • Anger
  • Fear

Develop a positive statement which clearly describes the emotional state of being you wish to have.Goal Setting Story

The Mental

No matter what you do, it's easier if you think clearly. Life runs smoothly if you have beliefs which support you. If your beliefs are sabotaging, you will not be able to stay balanced while working to achieve your goal. For instance, if you believe you can only succeed if you work extremely hard, you are going to miss the valid short-cuts which come to you. You'll automatically assume any short-cut leads to something inferior or is a scam.

On the other hand, if you believe there is often an easier way to accomplish your goal, you will be on the look out for time cutting and cost cutting measures. When you're imbalanced in other areas of your life, your mind can become so crowded with extraneous lists and thoughts, you lose your clarity and, thus, lose your focus. /? 160510" Goal Setting Story
