This may not be new to you; however, let me make sure that you understand that Constantine was an emperor, a MAN- MALE! Additionally, Jesus whom the early church made God-in-disguise, the second person of the trinity, and the head of the new church that was being birthed was a MAN-MALE! Thus, God the Creator was MALE! It's simply logic! Thus the powers that be who formed the Catholic Church and Christianity as we largely know it today, decided that God was MALE! Male chauvinist theology was thus birthed and it is alive and well today. Keep women and the females out of the ministry. What does a woman know? But, to appease the lack of estrogen put into the adoption of the church canon, Mary became the equalizer of sorts. Mary was elevated to a SINLESS person who gave a virgin birth to Jesus and then never physically died as Jesus did, but was ushered into the heavenlies in some Elijah ride vehicle. It gets a little difficult to believe at times, does it not? So who can ABROGATE such laws, creeds, and doctrines, and beliefs? Let us not get bogged down on trying to undo what is and start living and being what IS. Let us come into the full humanity that we've been given and live it through the Spirit. Even if Jesus was God incarnate (in the traditional sense that usually means) his MALENESS in no way dictates that God is MALE. God is SPIRIT! God is not a PERSON in a physical sense though God has a personality- can you say LOVE? God is very PERSONAL, but not a PERSON, nor a MALE of any sort. How easily so many have been led astray from seeing the contradictions especially when for more than sixteen centuries the Catholic church really didn't want anyone to even READ the Bible lest they begin to THINK, and God forbid what might happen if people started to THINK! What IF people went further and then started to listen to the Spirit? I can only HOPE we do!
