If you know someone who is an Addicted to Drugs, and just goes on drinking binges until they drink themselves into oblivion, and after they're in a drunken stupor want to exacerbate their drunkenness with Marijuana or other Hard Drugs, it's time for them to get help. But please remember that 90 percent of the time they will deny they have a problem. They will do whatever it takes to remain in their drug or alcohol induced stupor. This is their comfort zone.
So what you need to do as someone responsible for this person is take action as soon as possible. A great place to start would be Alanon. It's an awesome program that works with AA or Alcoholics Anonymous. They will tech you what you need to learn to not only get sober, but to stay sober and how to deal with the issues that got you starting to drink in the first place.
Unfortunately you alone can't make anyone better. Rehabilitation is something people have to do for themselves. But if they get to an Alanon meeting they will soon realize they are not alone, and the support there is like no other place for people suffering from Drinking Problems.
In addition to realizing that you can only help yourself, think of the serenity prayer. Also learn to love yourself for who you are. If you can do this, and truly change your thinking, you can learn to live with someone no matter how messed up they are, and hopefully change them along the way.
But I also realize everyone has a breaking point. You also have a life and if they are interfering with your quality of life and things are to the point where you don't feel they are respecting you as a person, then it may be time for an Alcohol Intervention for them.
You should be able to find Alanon and Alcoholics Anonymous in the phone book and online.
