Orange is one of the favorite fruits in India and all over the world. This particular fruit is good source of vitamin C as this is rich in vitamin C this also have many health benefits. Oranges are generally available from winter through summer with seasonal variations that depends on variety. As it is tasty as well as healthy so it is an additional food that makes the perfect snack and adds a special tang to many recipes.

Structure

Oranges are round citrus fruits and they have finely-textured skins. These fruits are orange in color and are like pulpy flesh, it’s skin can vary in thickness from very thin to very thick. Oranges usually range from approximately two to three inches in diameter.

Benefits

Oranges are very full of Vitamin C but in addition to that there are other vitamins called citrus limonoids that help to fight certain cancers such as mouth, skin, lung, breast, and stomach and colon cancers in animals. The main source of Vitamin C, oranges can help fight off bacteria and prevent colds and the flu. The Vitamin C is a great way to fight off airborne germs during the winter months

Contents of orange

Orange contains beta-carotene; this is a powerful antioxidant that protects the cells from damage. It also contains Magnesium, which helps maintain blood pressure. Vitamin B6, which is, contained in orange helps support the production of hemoglobin that carries oxygen to all parts of the body.

Nutritional facts of orange

Oranges contain water-soluble fiber, which is called pectin. Many studies conclude that pectin helps reduce blood cholesterol levels. This may explain why individuals who eat several servings daily of fruits, such as oranges and vegetables have a lower risk for heart disease. It also supplies 80 fat free calories that are packed with energizing carbohydrates that fuels energy levels.
