When you want an evaluation of your arterial blood flow, you go for a heart stress test and unlike what the name suggests, it has nothing to do with the emotions of a person. The test is to find out whether there are abnormalities. This is known when the results become negative or positive. Positive results indicate that you do have a certain imbalance in your blood. The test checks the imbalance only on the left ventricular. The heart stress test will ensure that if something is wrong, it will be caught it will be made easier for you. The test is usually done when you are not seating but while engaged in a certain kind of activity.

There are several instances where the test is ordered and the first one is when the patient is suspected to have coronary artery disease. Also, the test will be ordered when you have many risk factors of the disease. When there is need to evaluate exercise tolerance, the test is done especially when the patient is complaining of shortness of breath and severe fatigue. Generally, it is done for the purposes of evaluating blood pressure in exercise patients and finally, to look for irregular heartbeats while the exercises are still going on. It is not difficult to perform the test and below are procedures followed in a heart sress test.

The first thing you can expect is the measuring of your blood pressure and heart rate at rest. You will then have electrodes attached to your body. There are things you need to do to prepare for the heart stress test  and they include the following. To avoid feelings of nausea while you are undergoing the test, do not eat for 3 hours prior to the procedure. You need to discontinue heart medicines and save them until the process is over and until your doctor advised. It is vital to wear simple cloths for the procedure to go smoothly. Before anything is done, the doctor will brief you on what to expect from the test where you will sign the consent form with proper information.

The procedure does not take a long time and within an hour your test will be done. If you want to know how safe the procedure is, then you can be sure that there a will qualified personal who will guide you through and assure. You will be glad to know that you can have the preliminary results. Therefore, a heart stress test has been created to serve you and in the long run, you will be happy when your heart becomes better. Remember to do some research on the topic and see other benefits which will come with having a healthy heart. There are several risks that you need to be aware of and they include a possibility of cardiac stress which include palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, headache, nausea, fatigue and so many others. After you have considered the risks, make the right decision that is going to better your life.
