To say the least, this opened up a huge market to those who couldn’t always travel to the beach (or have access to it) and/or spend countless hours in the sun trying to achieve the perfect tan. Over the next ten years, tanning beds were left virtually unregulated. However, in 1988, regulation was passed at the federal level to ensure proper safety levels were in place with tanning beds and booths nationwide.

With this new venue, there arose another marketing opportunity, specifically indoor tanning lotions. These lotions were designed to heighten the effects of tanning by virtue of the use of ultraviolet light. One of the more popular products is hemp tanning lotion , which uses hemp oil as one of its key ingredients.

Typically, a tanning lotion’s ingredients are what define its properties. For instance, certain natural substances such as oils and plant extracts are oftentimes added to the product so as to protect the skin’s moisture levels. As a result of this, there is now numerous hemp tanning lotion products available on the market. The moisturizing process affects the shedding of flaky skin which in turn results in one’s tan fading.

Hemp tanning lotion is seen as one of the more beneficial indoor tanning solutions because of the qualities that hemp oil itself exhibits. From a culinary standpoint, hemp oil is considered to be of the highest nutritional qualities due to its EFA (essential fatty acid) profile. It is common knowledge that individuals who use hemp oil as a dietary supplement develop softer skin, stronger nails and smoother, thicker hair.

It is the combination of hemp oil with other ingredients such as copper and Vitamin E that provide such a benefit to one’s skin when using hemp tanning lotion. Since hemp oil has such a high fatty acid content, it helps to seal in moisture thus minimizing the damaging and drying effects of tanning. Additionally, the antioxidant properties of vitamin E react with hemp oil so as to prevent lines and wrinkles in the skin, which is one of the long-term side effects of constant tanning (indoors or outdoors).

It is often recommended that hemp tanning lotion be applied up to an hour before entering the tanning bed or booth so as to be absorbed more readily into the skin prior to the tanning session. Also, there is some speculation that using tanning lotions that contain hemp oil ward off the environmental effects of pollution on a person’s skin. Making sure that hemp oil is one of the ingredients in a tanning solution ensures that the skin will not succumb to those aging factors that result due to tanning.

In addition to hemp tanning lotions, there are numerous skin care products (available on the market) that contain hemp oil as one of their ingredients such as hand lotions, skin moisturizers, and outdoor suntan lotions. All of these will have the same benefits for the care of one’s skin.
