Plus-sized women are not the only ones plagued by double chins-far from it, in fact, though that's a common misconception. Slim women can fall victim to this cosmetic defect just as easily as their better-endowed counterparts. It can occur due to poor nutrition, or a badly chosen diet plan that dealt with extra weight, but not with stretch marks or double chins.

It's admittedly a lot easier to prevent a double chin than to eliminate it. But, if you already have it, you can at least try hiding it. Try the tips given below:

A double chin can make you look heavy and unattractive, even when you're not actually so. Shifting the accent will have the effect of visually hiding double chin, as the eye will no longer be assaulted by it. Simply wear clothes with necklines, which assist in creating the optical illusion of a longer neck. This effect can be created very easily, simply by slightly changing the necklines of the clothes you usually wear, never mind whether these are blouses, tank tops or shirts. Putting your hair up can also visually lengthen the neck.

If you have a double chin, don't go for clothes that have a neckline at the very base of your chin, or shirts with plain necklines. These only serve to draw further attention to double chin, which you surely do not want. If you wardrobe is full of these clothes, toss them out and fill them with clothes which will aid in hiding double chin-clothes with V-shaped necklines are good, the lower the better. Clothes with buttons are also a good choice. By no means should you wear anything with plain, high necklines. Turtlenecks are absolutely forbidden.

Make-up can help a lot in hiding double chin. Apply make-up in a way that shifts attention away from your double chin. In order to do this, you need to draw attention to your eyes and cheekbones. Go for calm, neutral tones. You can make your eyes expressive by applying only mascara, but avoid using eye shadow and/or eyeliner. Use bronze-tone rouge on your cheekbones-apply some to your nose and temples as well, to make it look natural.

Your accessories can either help correct the shortcomings in your figure or highlight them further. So be careful when choosing them. If you have a double chin, avoid long, heavy earrings that draw the eye towards your double chin. The same goes for chokers. Instead, go for long strings of beads, or small, bright earrings, which draw the eye either up or down, but never direct attention towards your double chin.

You needn't rest content by merely hiding your double chin-you can fight it as well, through a good combination of dieting and exercising. Select a diet-plan that suits you and do so wisely. Pay extra attention to your workout regimen. Choose exercises that can assist you in eliminating that annoying double chin. Certain facial exercises are quite effective when it comes to this.
