A home remedy for bacterial vaginosis is undoubtedly the best way to treat this condition. Caused by an imbalance of the naturally occurring bacteria within the vagina, conventional medication such as antibiotics and over the counter treatments can be counter-productive.

There can be various causes of bacterial vaginosis, including over-washing, stress, washing detergent, changes in soaps or shower gels or even a change in sexual partner. Indeed, there are thought to be many varied triggers and very often, a woman may not know exactly what causes bacterial vaginosis in her case.

Under normal circumstances, the two main types of bacteria co-exist without any problem, with the "good" bacteria controlling levels of "bad" bacteria. When something happens to upset the balance, the bad bacteria grows out of control and causes the unpleasant symptoms of bacterial vaginosis such as itching, burning, the offensive fishy odor and occasionally, the symptoms of a urinary tract infection.

Antibiotics are often given to kill off the bad bacteria, but these are very much seen as a "quick fix" method as unfortunately, they are unable to distinguish between the different types of bacteria and therefore kill off the good bacteria too! So although the symptoms might disappear within a few days, they are likely to reappear once the effect of the antibiotics have worn off as the good bacteria will not have had the chance to build up to a sufficient level to fight off the bad bacteria which will naturally repopulate the vagina.

This is the reason why the majority of women who take antibiotics to cure bacterial vaginosis will have repeated attacks within a few short weeks of finishing a course

Whilst the overall effect of antibiotics is to weaken the immune system, the aim of a good home remedy for bacterial vaginosis is to strengthen the immune system, enabling it to robustly fend off any further attacks-often without symptoms ever developing. In addition, a good remedy will provide strategies which get rid of the symptoms of an attack far quicker and more effectively than antibiotics or over the counter creams and lotions.

One home remedy which is commonly mentioned is using live, natural yogurt. As this contains "good" bacteria, it helps the body repopulate depleted supplies thus aiding the body's ability to fight bad bacteria. It can be simply eaten, or you can soak a tampon in it and insert directly into the vagina. Another popular home remedy for bacterial vaginosis is to add a couple of cups of cider vinegar into a bath of warm water and sit in it for a few minutes.

There is a tried and tested home remedy for bacterial vaginosis which is completely guaranteed to get rid of the condition within 3 days. Not only that, you can learn how to eradicate some of the most unpleasant symptoms within minutes. Providing you are prepared to invest a little time and effort in learning just how to treat yourself, you will learn strategies which will ensure that you have no repetition of bacterial vaginosis.
