If one were not a Christian the future would seem almost unbearable; it would certainly seem to be a future with very little hope.
I believe our country is in for a very rough time; thank God we are living within a different economy than this world's; thank God we are in the world but not of the world!
Psalms 37:25 has been given to us that we might have hope! After all, Romans 15:4 assures us that "through the comfort of the Scriptures we have hope."
I find it very interesting that some are saying this current economic crisis we have entered will ultimately dwarf the great depression. Some have pointed out that the dour fiscal parameters of this present economic climate are far and away more severe than were the economic shortcomings at the beginning of the great depression. Overwhelming consumer debt, a glut of real estate foreclosures, huge government deficits, a burgeoning unemployment rate, and the very real possibility of vast numbers of manufacturing and retail closings are all converging to create an interesting and very explosive scenario.
Here is why I think all of that is interesting: the situation is so dire and the future so hopeless - only God will be able to help us! We will need the divine hand of our Heavenly Father to overcome.
What a time to be a Christian! What a time to see the miracle hand of God at work causing Psalm 37:25 and Philippians 4:19 to be operational in our lives! What God has done for His children at any time in the past He can do for us today! What God did for Elijah and the widow from Zarephath He will surely do in the lives of any who dare to believe in Him.
I pray that all God's children are tithers because God's promises concerning the financial realm are firmly established in being obedient to give Him the first tenth... and then secondly, believe and speak His promises with the mouth!
Speaking the Word concerning God's promises is very important because it is the established way God gets involved in the lives of His children. (Proverbs 13:2)
What a great time to be a Christian... a time filled with the Spirit of God activating Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 in our lives!
