Figuring out "how do I cope with a broken heart" when you have just gone through an emotional breakup is very tough. Very rarely are breakups mutual and usually one person wants to breakup and although the other person might agree, it's most likely reluctantly.

If you are the one whose heart is broken and you are still trying to figure out how to cope, I'm sorry your relationship didn't work out. However, as dark and gloomy as life may look now, there are sunny days ahead.

I realize that I don't know your particular situation and I'm not there to help see you through this difficult time. But I have been in a similar situation and have known countless others who have made it through because you really only have two options; (1) Close out this chapter of your life and move on without your ex. (2) Take steps to reconnect with your ex and heal your broken heart that way. Either way will help you learn how to cope with a broken heart because your broken heart will be healed.

The one option I suggest you don't take is to let this breakup consume your life and keep you sad, depressed, lonely and longing for your ex. Life is too short and you are to valuable to stand still and let life pass you by.

How do I cope with a broken heart by moving on?

Well this is where you have to look inward make sure you love yourself enough to know that you have so much to offer this world and so much more life to live. Sure it will be tough going for a while but the quicker you begin to focus on you and not your ex then coping with your heart break will become easier.

Find some of the things you like to do or friends you like to hang out with or family you have been neglecting and invest some time in this manner.

Don't spend time looking at old pictures or vacation DVDs or presents from your ex. No reading of love letters or poems or old email messages. None of these things will help you figure out "how do I cope with a broken heart".

How do I cope with a broken heart by getting my ex back?

There are many things you can do to get your ex back in your life. If you still have a fire burning for your ex you probably need to at least try to get him or her back.

The key to healing your broken heart by getting back together is to avoid doing some of the things that can kill any chance you have of reuniting. For example, you don't want to bombard your ex with emails or phone calls or try to make your ex feel guilty about the breakup.
