Recent probe finds drugs in drinking water: By now you have read this headline, and may be worrying yourself about whether this problem is as serious as it seems. You may even be asking yourself "How do Pharmaceutical drugs get in drinking water?", because there is no easy answer here. Our water is clearly more polluted than anyone previously realized, and this once innocuous problem is now gaining headway and really beginning to wreak havoc. So to answer the question, how do pharmaceutical drugs get in drinking water, and an even more important query, what can be done about it?, we need to examine the problem more closely:

The first step to answering "how do pharmaceutical drugs get in drinking water?" is addressing how our drinking water is polluted in general. This is achieved not only by pharmaceutical drugs but also by other chemical compounds. There are two primary means for pharmaceutical drugs leaking into our drinking water systems, the first being because it has been generally accepted as safe for pharmaceutical drugs to be flushed down toilets as a means of disposing them, which clearly is not as safe as it was once thought to be. The second means is the same method but a different cause: More than half of the world's population takes at least one medication on a consistent basis, and undigested or unabsorbed traces of these chemical medications are being released into wastewater systems through the simple process of using the bathroom.

So how do pharmaceutical drugs get in drinking water? Most commonly it is because they are flushed down the toilet, simple as that. They cannot be properly filtered out in the water purification process, and are still found in trace amounts in our public drinking water supply even after the water has deemed to be safe to drink. This is a relatively new problem, but it is becoming more and more serious because the amounts found of these chemical compounds and pharmaceutical drugs are growing exponentially over time, and this may already be having severely negative effects on our bodies and our overall health. Can you imagine allowing your children to drink water contaminated with sex hormones, birth control medications, powerful painkillers and other pharmaceutical medications?

Visit " " />home water purificationto discover how to select the very best water filtration system for your home or office.

What can be done about this?

As each probe finds drugs in drinking water, we become increasingly aware of the problem. The only solution, obviously, is to find improved ways to clean our water. Buying an efficient and effective filtration system for your home is an excellent way to better safeguard your family from the potential drugs found inside. When a probe finds drugs in drinking water, they are usually very small trace amounts, however it is safe to assume that any measurable amount is simply too much. By installing a fully functional filtration system in your home you can better protect your family from the chemicals that may be lurking within your water supply.

Now that you know how pharmaceutical drugs get in drinking water, you can work a little more efficiently to solve the problem on a small scale in your own home.
