Eating disorder rehab centers are the best places to head for, if you really want to be totally treated of your eating disorders like bulimia, anorexia, binge-eating and obesity. Not surprisingly, in 90 percent of the cases, girls tend to suffer more from eating disorders compared to males, probably due to their trait of associating emotions stress and despair with food. The society and the media's image of a girl to have a certain body-type also make the fairer sex push more towards being anorexic. Since eating disorder is something that is more related to faulty thinking rather than faulty eating, eating disorder treatment centers lay emphasis on counseling and going for cognitive and interpersonal therapy to make sure that the person sees enough sense in eating right and living a healthy, happy life. The treatment can be either inpatient or outpatient. In an outpatient treatment center, the person doesn't really have to be present in the clinic all the time; she can just go back home after counseling and treatment is done with. In case the symptoms of a person suffering from an eating disorder are on the aggravating side, it is better to go for inpatient training. In case, it is possible to manage the eating disorder with routine treatment and counseling and it is not required for the person to be in the eating disorder rehab , then it is okay to opt for an outpatient center which the person can visit once or twice a week. You and the doctor can work together to find out what mode of treatment can work the best for you. To determine the seriousness of the problem and to decide whether a case warrants inpatient or outpatient treatment, eating disorder therapy rehabs have their own set of guidelines that can determine the severity of a patient's problem. For instance, if the person has other disorders that are affecting his/her health a lot; depression, heart problems, liver problems, too much fatigue and weakness, then a person should be asked to join an inpatient program. Similarly, if the condition of the person is so intense that her personal life, professional life, interpersonal relationship etc; are affected; then it is better to go for an inpatient treatment center. Inpatient stay for teenagers who are suffering from either bulimia or anorexia is for duration of 60 days on an average. For adults, it can be anywhere between 40-60 days. Though the treatment may well be over in 30 days, the next 25 days or so goes in ‘after –care' to make sure that that the patient has fully comprehended things from the therapy. Some eating disorder rehab centers also collaborate with insurance companies so that one does not have to pay high bills. It is to the credit of these eating disorder treatment programs , that most myths of dieting are being done away with. There have been cases of people who have been fully cured from their disease, actually going ahead and writing blogs about their experiences and sharing the good news with everyone that nothing can substitute healthy food and healthy lifestyle.
