Is there something deep in your heart that over rules all other feelings? Something that you just can't get out of your mind. It might even be something that you try to push away. Sometimes we even know that it is so far fetched, so far fetched that all the odds are against us. Other people and even our own minds can go against it. That something is called desire. It is just something that you cannot explain. When we think of the word desire, we tend to think that what we desire is something that is going to always make us happy. It is true that having our desire fulfilled will make us happy, but sometimes in order to get our desires we have to go through a lot of pain and struggles to get there.

How do we know it is a true desire? Well if it is something that you can feel in your heart, something that is so much stronger that anything else it is desire. If you try to give up on it, because it seems that your desire will never come to pass, and the next thing you know it has made its way to your heart again, that is a desire. Sometimes we do not even want to have the desires that we have. It sounds strange but its true. If it is something that can change our plans, or make us work a little harder than usual then we might not even want it. But if we sit and think about it, the outcome would really make us happy. Let's say that deep in our heart we desire starting our own business. Yes this is something that you have always thought about. But right now you have two kids and a spouse. Starting your own business right now is not feasible. It would be too risky. You have a job that is getting you by, and you are doing ok for yourself. Your life is not bad. But you can't stop thinking about owning your own business. It is always in the back of your mind. You even try not to think about it for a long time. At one point you even thought it was forgotten. Then all of a sudden you start thinking about it again. That is your desire. That is what you really want. That is the dream that you must go after. Let me just warn you that if what is in your heart is a true desire, and you never act on it, it will be there for the rest of your life. Only you can fulfill the desire of your heart. You can choose to live with or without it. Even if you choose to live without, it doesn't mean your life will be bad. It just means it won't be the best it could be.

Here is where faith comes into play. Having faith has a lot to do with achieving your desires. If you do not believe it will happen then it won't. It is as simple as that. Faith is knowing that even though the situation looks impossible, it is not. It is knowing that at the right time and place it will happen. And you just can't have faith for a week, say it has not happened and give up. No faith takes a lot of strength and a lot of discipline on your part. It means going against the odds, going against others opinions and at time even going against your own opinion. Well then why bother going through all this if achieving my desire is going to be so hard? The answer is that achieving your desire in the end will be so worth it. Do you realize how much happier you would be doing the thing or things that you truly desire? While our minds analyze things our hearts know things. Our hearts know things that our own minds cannot comprehend. It is always smart to make wise choices and decisions, but ignoring our hearts will most of the time let great opportunities pass us by.

By having faith you allow yourself to KNOW that this is possible. It allows you to do the things you need to do in order to achieve your goal. We will use the business desire as an example. Ok, now you understand that owning your own business is your desire. If we have faith that it will happen, then we will do all we can do at this point in time to make it happen. We will work harder on achieving it. We might set up a certain amount of time each day to start planning. We might stop buying the extra donuts at the supermarket so that we can save a little extra money to get things started. If you have no faith, if you do not believe that it will happen, then you will do nothing about it and it won't. Another example. We will use a pro football player. More than likely if you are a pro football player that is something you have always desired. It was something that was always in your heart. You worked for it because you really wanted it. You trained a lot and did not get to do a lot of things that other kids your age did because you were always working on getting better. You desired to be a pro. Did that desire come easily? 99% of the time the answer is no. It had to be something they really wanted and something they really worked for. Now do you think this pro football player lacks faith? Do you think that he believes that he cannot win the game? What would happen if he had no faith in himself? He would lose. He wouldn't even try. What would be the point in doing something you had no faith in? There would be no point.

So how will achieving my desires really make a difference? Think about it like this. If there is something that you really want and you work really hard in order to get it, it will make you feel like you have never felt before. There is a difference between want's and desires. I really want that purse. And yes that purse will make me feel good, I might even really like it, but buying a purse is not going to change my life. I basically just had to put in on the counter and buy it. That wasn't that hard to do. One day that purse is going to end up in the closet with the other 100 purses I have. It was just a want. But if you have had to overcome a lot of struggle a lot of obstacles and had to put in a lot of work then it is going to be something that you really treasure forever. It will be something that you never want to throw to the back of your closet. It was your desire and you achieved it! When something comes for free it is not appreciated as much as something we work for. If you won a million dollars in the lottery, I am sure you would be very happy, but lets say you worked really hard all of your life and made your first million dollars. You are more likely to spend your money wisely if you worked for it than if you had won it. If you won it you are more likely to go on a huge shopping spree and buy things you really do not need. This is usually not the case when there was a lot of effort on your part. You will make better choices and appreciate things a lot more if you had to actually work to obtain the things you desire. So go ahead and start working on the things you desire. Do not worry if you don't achieve it today or even tomorrow. With faith you can make it happen!
