On the day you marry you feel you'll never forget a second of it- The excitement, the happiness and the atmosphere will stay with you forever. But the truth is memories DO fade and there will be moments you completely forget as time passes. So how do you capture all those special and amazing aspects of your day, to cherish forever? Photographs obviously go a long way towards creating memories. They chart certain times in your day, and they are wonderful to look back at and relive the day, but they don't capture everything.   So here are some tips to help you make sure your memories stay alive.

1.  Take time out- give yourself the odd couple of minutes during your wedding day, to stop and take in everything going on around you. Absorb what you see and hear, take it in and take a mental photograph. Stepping back, even briefly will help you remember.

 2. Smell the Roses- at the start of your big day take a few moments to enjoy your wedding bouquet. Its feel, its look, its smell. Tell yourself that during the day you'll occasionally stop and enjoy the beautiful fragrance of your bouquet. It will remind you to enjoy the moment, to live in the moment and not wish the day away.

 3. Use a new fragrance- invest in a brand new perfume for your big day. Layer it by using the shower gel, the body lotion and the perfume. Wrapped in a beautiful new scent all day, you'll really notice the fragrance, and every time you use it after your wedding day, you'll be transported back to the most wonderful day of your life. Your new husband will also always associate the fragrance with the day of your marriage. It will always remind you of your perfect day.

  4. Invest in the best photography you can afford- It may seem an extravagance when you are dividing up your budget, but choosing great photography will ensure many precious moments are recorded forever. They are also wonderful to look back on together with family and friends, long after your day has passed.

  5. Choose significant music- Like scents, music can transport us to a specific time and place. Choose your music throughout the day with care. Make sure you pick songs and pieces which are special to you, have important lyrics or truly mean something to you both. Every time you hear those pieces of music in the future you'll be instantly back on the day of your Wedding.

 6. Keep a diary- Nothing will capture your memories, feelings and emotions better than writing them down, recording them in words. It's the most personal of accounts and it's from the heart. There is no better way to relive your day than through your own thoughts. You can write it up yourself or have your notes ghost written into a beautiful and truly unique memoir.
