Coordinating your nuptials can be an extremely hectic and confusing process.  You hope to have a ceremony where every detail is just right so that all can recall this time with completely happy memories.  Part of the preparation is picking your color combinations.  As you page through color options with your wedding organizer, sometimes embarrassing tales of gaudy colors and tackier bridesmaid dresses are bouncing around your brain.  Here to help you to manage this stressful time is a simple guide on how to select your wedding colors.

The first step is to list your favorite colors.  You don't have to be completely succinct; you can add blue rather than solid navy with a hint of fuchsia.  Your favs are the shades you should consider first.  You don't seriously want to choose a hue you do not really care for for your wedding.  Keep in mind, the wedding photographs last for a very long time!  If you are undecided, pay attention to the environment around you for a few days.  Consider ads and palettes which you prefer.  You probably have a color you favor and just not realize it.

Now you ought to deliberate over your wedding theme.  If the couple has chosen a period setting, such as Baroque or Wild West, then that will make things easier.  Do a little online research to figure out what colors were preferered in that period.  Check out art works from these time periods and continents to get a better visual and inspire your creative spirit.   If you have scheduled a seasonal event, like Thanksgiving or autumn, then that will narrow down your color selections.

If you do not care for a specific theme, you also have a unique style.  Are you, and in conjunction your ceremony, traditional or more far out there?  Would you rather include traditional dresses or the trendiest fashions?  Your wedding palette will hinge on the overall feel of your wedding.  For a conservative ceremony and reception, you will ought to pick soft pastel combinations.  For a dramatic feel, dark shades will deepen the atmosphere.

After you have found a few of your wedding color choices, you can go over color swatches, then visualize the outfits and décor.  Some colors are fabulous, but not in large doses.  Those colors can be decorating details added to your neutral colors such as pearl.  As you sort things out, discard any colors that somehow don't feel right.  It is simple to railroad yourself into an idea, yet much harder to live with the selection.  A lot of times, you will know the ideal shade when you see it.  Try not to double-guess yourself.  If you like the shade yourself, that is all that counts.

The final step is to preview the color palette.  Often, wedding professionals and designers have implements or systems to do an approximation of what your color scheme will look like.  At that point, details can be adjusted.  Remember to be open to input, but know that this is your big day and should be decorated the way you want.
