Tinnitus is a condition where the patient perceives noise within his/her ears-in the absence of any external source of sound. Patients describe the sound as ringing, screeching, howling or even screaming.
How to cure Tinnitus is a problem of more than a hundred million people worldwide. It is caused by other health problems like hypertension, anxiety, depression and physical injuries. The most common cause is hearing loss due to exposure to loud sounds.
1) On Sleeping Problems In many cases, patients do fine during daytime. However, they experience severe Tinnitus at night. The quiet environment will make the patient more aware of the ringing.
Lack of sleep can cause stress and poorer health. Doctors advise the use of Melatonin on these patients. This drug will lower brain activity, causing less consciousness of the sound. This will help the patient get more sleep.
2) Stimulants and Depressants Studies show that triggers of Tinnitus are similar to triggers of anxiety or depression. Hearing the abnormal sound is not constant. It gets annoying when the person has increase awareness of the sound.
Anti-anxiety and anti-depression medicines can be used to regulate brain and muscle activity. They either suppress the triggers for the sound or lower the person's awareness of the sound.
Anticonvulsants are now being tested for effectiveness. Some studies have shown that Tinnitus symptoms happen in waves or attacks-similar to convulsion.
On the other hand, Swedish experts propose that how to cure Tinnitus is answerable by anesthetics. Lidocaine (anesthetic), when injected to the inner ear, can suppress symptoms for an average of twenty minutes.
These mentioned substances can be dangerous if used improperly. They should be used under the doctor's supervision. Do not self-inject or self-medicate.
3) How to Cure Tinnitus with Cochlear Implants Hearing "unreal" noise is associated with loss of external hearing. This usually comes with old age. People who are less tuned with external sounds are more prone to Tinnitus.
Restoration of hearing, even partially, can reduce or eliminate the symptoms completely. This can be done by placing implants in the center of the cochlea. It is the fluid part of the ear responsible for amplifying external sound signals.
Implantation is recommended strictly for those who are completely deaf or with significant hearing loss. The process will remove the natural hearing ability of the ears, leaving it all to the implanted devices. If still applicable, it is better to use hearing aids.
Most methods on how to cure Tinnitus are still under development. In many cases, it symptoms are just temporary. Sometimes, patience is all that it takes because the disorder may just disappear one day.
If treatment is badly needed, always consult an ear doctor. Choose a safe and risk-free method too.
