The dollar dance is a great tradition at any wedding. It is when the bride and groom shamelessly offer themselves up for the cost of a fountain drink. They offer one dance with anyone at the wedding for a dollar. It's a lot of fun and always a big hit at the reception. It is fun for her and him.

To do the money dance all you need is a cooperative DJ, some good music, willing guests and something to hold your loot in. The best thing to use is a dollar dance bag. These are usually called wedding money bags .  They are made just for this purpose, are shaped like a real money bag and come in many decorative style.

The first thing you want to do is tell the DJ you are having the dance.  At the right moment they will announce that the dollar dance is on. Anyone who wants to dance with the bride or groom should make their way to the dance floor. It will only cost a dollar and sorry, checks and credit cards are not accepted.

The bride usually goes first. She waves her wedding money bag around and asks to see who wants to dance.  When someone puts a dollar in the bag for her the DJ plays a song and they dance.

Next is the groom. He struts onto the floor and tries to get the ladies to dance with him for a dollar. When someone stuffs a dollar into his bag the next dance begins. It continues until everyone loses interest.

It's a fun tradition and almost all weddings have one. They are a fun way to get people up and dancing too. Many brides and grooms have them right at the begining of the reception party after dinner to get everyone involved in the celebration.
