Acne prevention and treatment has come a long way in the last several years. Speculation as to what causes it and how to deal with it have made way to actual scientific data and several tested cures that are available without prescription to anyone with a desire to get rid of acne on their face and body.

At Home Method

1. Start with a nice gentle wash, with warm (not hot) water. Warm water will slowly open your pores, to allow dirt and bacteria to come loose and be washed away. Gentle is the key word here though: Rough, scrubbing type motions will only cause further irritation, which is exactly what acne is an irritation caused by clogged pores.

2. Next we're going to apply some Benzoyl Peroxide. This chemical is great not only for cleansing wounds, but also for cleaning/oxygenating the pores on our skin. Aside from cleansing and oxygenating, the Benzoyl will also act as a mild exfoliate, to peel off damaged layers of skin and let fresh layers show themselves. If you want to get rid of acne, this stuff is a must and very inexpensive to buy at your local pharmacy.

3. To get rid of acne, you're next going to want to find a suitable moisturizer, as the Peroxide will have drying effect on your skin (this varies from person to person). The key thing to remember when moisturizing acne prone skin, is that we don't want to use anything that will re-clog the pores. Jojoba oil is known for its ability to moisturize, without clogging. You can also look for products specifically geared toward moisturizing the facial area, as they're often made with the sensitive pores of your face in mind.

*Note: For body acne: Some people can use any moisturizer they wish, while others will find that some will clog pores and cause more acne.
