Corns are small, hardened and thickened parts of skin that are commonly formed in between or on top of the toes. They usually appear as tiny yellow circular patches with a gray-colored spot on the center. Corns are formed due to repetitive rubbing or friction of shoe surfaces against the toes. Wearing shoes that are too tight, especially around the toe area, is one of the leading factors that lead to formation of corns. These mini calluses may not be life-threatening, but they sure can be pretty painful.

Causes of Corns

Soft corns are caused from the pressure of fourth and fifth toe rubbing against each other or by excessive moisture in the fourth toe web. A hard corn develops on the joint due to the pressure from ill-fitting shoes.

Symptoms of Corns

Tough, thick, hardened patches of skin that appear between the toes, on top of the toes, which may or may not be tender and painful.

How to Prevent from Getting Corns

1.    Choose the right size and perfect shoe for you. Find the right pair of shoes that fits you perfectly and something that you can feel comfortable wearing.

2.    Drink plenty of fluids.

3.    Avoid using alcohol on your feet as it causes your skin to dry easily

4.    Eat healthy and nutritious diet

5.    Observe proper hygiene

6.    Try to massage your feet once in a while to facilitate circulation

Home Remedies to Remove Corns

1.    Relate raw Papaya juice on the corn, 2-3 times in a day.

2.    Powder chalk and insert water to it, to shape a paste. Relate on the corn, now before going to bed.

3.    Powder licorice and add mustard or gingili oil to it, to form a paste. Apply on the corn, 2-3 times a day.

4.    Put essential oils, lemon, tangerine, etc, on the corn, 2-3 times in a day.

5.    Apply cider vinegar on the corn and after a few minutes, follow with tea tree oil.

6.    Apply the milky juice of green figs on the corn, on a daily basis.

7.    Tape a fresh lemon slice over the corn and leave overnight.

8.    Soak your feet in warm water for a few minutes, on a daily basis. When the corn gets dried, rub it away with a pumice stone.

9.    Touch the corn with a toothpick soaked in castor oil.

10.    Soak a small piece of cloth in vinegar and bind it on the toe. Leave it on for 24 hours.

11.    Cut a square from the peel of a fresh pineapple and place its inside directly on the corn. Attach with a band-aid or tape and leave overnight.

12.    Soak the affected area in warm sugar-milk, the quantity of sugar enough to give milk a grainy feel.

13.    Rub castor oil on the affected area, for 2-3 minutes, twice a day.

14.    Brew a cup of chamomile tea and make it strong. Dip a cotton ball in the tea and dab it on the corn. Cover it with an adhesive bandage and leave overnight.

15.    Soak the affected toe in unfiltered apple cider vinegar, for 10 minutes. Cover with duct tape and leave overnight.
