Your house is a mess. You're stressed, every time you look around you just get more overwhelmed. You need to get the house under control and you need to do it now, before you lose your mind completely. I've been there, and it's not a nice place to be. So, how do get from the question "How to organize my house?" to a clean, peaceful and organized home? You follow this 2 step process to freedom.

Step 1: What's the Problem?

Grab a notebook or a piece of paper and go from room to room in your house. Write down everything that upsets you about the room. Write down everything you see. If there are clothes on the floor, write that down. If there are dirty dishes there, write it down too. Note everything that shouldn't be in the room or that otherwise is not working. When you're done, examine the list, and determine the problem.

What kind of issue is affecting your peace? Is it a:

Habit Issue

  • You don't have an organizational system.

  • You have a system, but you or others in your house are not using it.

Space Issue

  • You simply don't have enough space.

  • There are too many people living in the house for the size of the house.

  • There's too much stuff.

Clutter Issue

  • There is stuff everywhere and you can't find things when you need them.

  • You feel stressed or bad when you come home and see the mess.

  • Things are out of place, and generally your space looks disorganized.

Step 2: Locate the Solution

Now that you have a better handle on exactly what kind of problem you're facing, it's much easier direct yourself to the proper solution.

If you have a habit issue you can:

  • Set up a reward system to encourage family members to cooperate

  • Put of some signs to remind everyone of where everything goes

  • Give yourself 21 days to establish your habits

If you have a space issue you can:

  • Move to a bigger house or apartment

  • Rent a storage unit

  • Create or purchase more in-home storage space

If you cannot or don't want to move/rent a storage unit, you will need treat this problem like a clutter issue to get a handle on the amount of stuff in your home.

If you have a clutter issue you need to:

  • Take it seriously

  • Find a house organizing system that is easy to implement and that works for you

  • Set it up and follow through

Clutter is a serious problem that slows you down in life and effects your ability to think clearly and move forward confidently in your life, it affects you and everyone who lives in your home. If you follow these steps, you can stop asking yourself "how to organize my house?" and finally start enjoying it.

Are you really fed up with the mess?

If you're ready to get on with your life and get past the obstacles to peace and tranquility in your own home you need to take action now. The longer you wait, the bigger the mess gets.
