If you are an amateur diver or thinking of taking some lessons on vacation it is important that you take special care of your hearing and make sure that you are in great health prior to going. Scuba diving is a wonderful sport and is a great way to see the world that exists underneath our eyes, but the underwater pressure could cause detrimental damage to your ears and your hearing so be sure to take the proper precautions and to make sure that you are healthy and in good shape.

If it is your first time going diving, make sure to pay very close attention to the signals that your instructor goes over with you as he will show you how to communicate with him under water so that you can inform him if you are not getting enough oxygen, if your ears are hurting you or if you just aren't feeling well. Your instructor will go over key signals to make sure that you are safe and remain healthy and alert when you descend to the bottom of the ocean.

Make sure that you are feeling well and that you don't even have the slightest bit of a cold as the underwater pressure will hurt your sinuses and can cause permanent damage to your hearing. You will still be able to dive but it is important for you to be very aware of how you are feeling so that you can get the proper help should you need it. Don't take any chances with your ears and if you detect that you have a sore throat or runny nose, opt not to dive until you feel a hundred percent better, otherwise it could be incredibly painful.

Once you have determined that you are healthy and decide to go under water, make sure to stay close to the group, to listen to your instructor and to pay attention to how you feel as you descend because different people will be able to tolerate very different levels of pressure. It is very possible that you can pop your eardrums so you have to be aware of how you feel because no one can monitor that for you. There is no reason to be afraid or to let this knowledge stand in the ay of you exploring a new sport, but it is important to bear in mind so that you can take the necessary precautions and protect yourself from harming your hearing in any way.

Scuba diving is a popular sport and is a wonderful way to get to know the ocean, to relax in one of the most peaceful environments and to simply step back and observe the marine life. Just be sure to protect yourself, to remain aware of how you feel, and best of all to just enjoy the scenery and the different species of marine life all swimming past you.
