In this article I will present a few tips that could help you quit smoking or any bad habit. If you are like most people you think that you can control your bad habits. This is wrong. The idea that you can control your bad habits is a myth. Bad habits are impulses, instead of controlling them you often end up repeating them.

Now let's talk about the tips that will help you bust your bad habits but before that read the definition of a bad habit:

"A bad habit is an acquired pattern of behavior that has become almost involuntary as a result of frequent repetition". Keep this definition in your mind. Now lets talk about the tips.

First of all you have to ask yourself. Do you really want to change? Do you really want to quit smoking or any other bad habit? This is very important. Unless you have convinced yourself that you have to quit, you are bound to fail. Tell yourself that you CAN quit. You should gather your keen determination and strong will power to do that.

Next, sit down for a while and try to think of reasons for quitting smoking or any other bad habit. Write those reasons down while you think of them. Writing is important. If you write enough reasons for quitting it will be really clear what your main goal is and why it's important to achieve it. Now all of your ideas regarding the busting of your bad habits are gathered in a single piece of paper. This by itself creates a feeling that quitting your bad habit is something that is achievable.

Then announce it to the people close to you (friends, family, co-workers). Tell everybody that you are planning to quit smoking or any of your bad habits. That you are really determined and that you will succeed no matter what. Why should you tell everybody? Because saying that you are determined to quit you will make some kind of commitment towards them and this will give you a strong motive to move forward. In other words you wouldn't want to fail when so many people know about it. One other reason why you should talk about it with your close people is that you might get good advice or other type of help from them.

The above two methods can help you start quitting smoking or any other bad habit. It could be the best way to start busting what's bad for you. I hope my advice will give you an idea of what you have to do to bust your bad habits. But enough with the tips.
