Plantar warts (warts that appear on the sole of the foot) are very common with children, young women, and young adults. However, you should know the virus that causes plantar warts is contagious and difficult for anyone to avoid. In fact, people that exercise and sweat heavily are likely to get plantar warts. The virus that causes warts is called human papilloma virus (HPV). HPV is a virus that infects the top layer of the skin that passes from person to person through close physical contact. Also the virus can be passed along through indirect contact such as a floor.
To get rid of plantar warts is not an easy task. First of all, the plantar wart is usually fully grown before people even attempt to start removing them. Also the warts grow in clusters. Plantar warts do not grow outward. On the contrary, they grow inward because the pressure caused by walking and standing force the warts to grow back into the foot's sole. Plantar warts are known to cause a great deal of pain.
There are many ways to get rid of plantar warts. Here are a few low cost ways to get rid of them:
The first thing you can try is to use and over the counter method to get rid of warts. Over the counter products to get rid of warts are easy to get. All you need to do is go to the drugstore and buy the wart remover. You don't need a prescription to use them. These products get rid of plantar warts in two ways, freezing or burning the wart off.
When using a product that freezes the wart, you would apply the product to freeze the wart immediately. This will cause the plantar wart too actually fall off in as little as 10 days. The other product uses salicylic acid. Salicylic acid sheds the layers of the skin to kill the wart.
You may have seen these products you can see at your local pharmacy. They are very popular and they do not cost very much. The downside to over the counter wart removal products are you may not be able to kill the virus that cause the plantar warts completely. So you may have to use them repeatedly if the wart comes back. Also, you should make sure you follow the directions. If you use too much of the product you can accidentally burn more than the wart. This could be quite painful.
Another very low cost way to remove plantar warts is called hyperthermic treatment. Hyperthermic treatment of plantar is very simple and all you need is warm water and a small tube to soak your feet in. It involves soaking your feet in hot water to remove the warts for 90 minutes a day. This is a no-nonsense method on how to remove warts, especially plantar warts. Also, it can relieve the pressure caused by the infection.
Hyperthermic treatment won't give you the quickest results. In fact, it will take months before you can remove the wart. Also the downside to this treatment method is that not many people have 90 minutes a daily schedule to soak their feet. However, it would be nice to have that extra time during the day.
Finally another low cost method to remove plantar warts is using natural ingredients. Using natural ingredients doesn't include using the over the counter products and have a less chance of scarring on your skin after the wart is removed.
Also, using natural methods may take some time to get rid of the plantar wart. However, most of these methods don't require a ton of time to apply them.
The options described above may prove beneficial and economical to remove the plantar warts. You may need to try multiple approaches before you find the right method that works for you.
