As a stop smoking hypnosis expert in Dallas and Author ofStop Smoking Toolbox, I am often asked many questions about hypnosis and smoking cessation.  Here are some basic steps to quitting smoking with hypnosis.

Step 1:Determine if you're a good candidate for Hypnosis to Stop Smoking

Hypnosis cannot make you do anything that you don't want to do. The key to your success is based on your belief, commitment, motivation, expectation to stop smoking. I have a prescreening process that only takes a few minutes that will help determine your readiness for change.

Step 2:Research Hypnosis as a viable option to stop smoking

Many studies have proven that Hypnosis is very effective for smoking cessation. 2007 Medscape Medical News did a case study that stated, "Hypnotherapy Outperforms Other Treatment Approaches for Smoking Cessation."

Step 3: Begin researching local Hypnotists

Working one on one with a local Hypnotist is the most effective way to quit smoking. You can begin your search online or by making a few phone calls to local hypnotists in your area. Ask each hypnotist about their personal credentials and their Stop Smoking Cessation Program.  Most programs should include a reinforcement CD and stress relief techniques. Most importantly, choose a Hypnotist that you feel comfortable working with.

Step 4: Be mentally prepared for your appointment on your Quit Day

Ask your Hypnotist how to best mentally prepare for your appointment.  Each day prior to your appointment, create a mental movie about yourself walking out of the Hypnotists office as a non-smoker. Think about yourself enjoying all the benefits of being smoke-free. This is one of many techniques that will enable you to be mentally prepared on your quit date.
