Haiti is widely known as the poorest, most unstable country in the Western Hemisphere.
- 80% of its citizens live in poverty with a majority of the population living on $2 a day.
- Around 50% of its population is illiterate.
- Only 40% of the population has access to basic healthcare.
- It has one of the largest slums in the Western Hemisphere, Cite Soleil.
- Its statistics of poverty rival those of many African nations.
- It has recorded 33 coups in its entire history as a nation.
- People in the slums have been known to have a diet consisting of "mud cakes" because they can't afford anything else.
- Thousands of Haitians have died at sea trying to escape poverty by taking boats to America.
Yet, I've talked to many Haitians who said life had been quite comfortable for them before they immigrated to America. Many said the standards of living they enjoyed compared favourably to America. Some said they had people to wash their clothes, cook their meals, drive them around etc.
Some also describe going back home to visit close relatives who live in fantastic mansions in the mountains. Looking at these mansions you'd be reminded of the show "MTV Cribs" because these mansions are replete with luxury cars, swimming pools, expensive furnishings, the works.
A few weeks ago, I saw pictures on Facebook of how the well-to-do live in Haiti and I was amazed. The pictures I saw of the neighbourhoods where some of the people lived in Haiti looked like a block in any random upper middle class neighbourhood in a random American city.
Moreover, a recent New York Times article showed posh restaurants and exclusive nightclubs frequented by Haiti's well-to-do that would look at home in any rich nation. These places were sometimes side-by-side with the tent cities and homeless people that were created by the recent earthquake.
Why such a disparity?
The prosperous in Haiti understand the Universal Laws and Principles for manifesting abundance. Because they understand these principles, they're even able to create wealth in a so-called poverty stricken nation like Haiti, and live in conditions that not only rival, but sometimes surpass that of their counterparts in First World nations.
These laws and principles for manifesting abundance can be used by anyone, anywhere. The unfortunate thing about Haiti, a lot less people know these laws than those who do, hence the reason that half the nation's wealth is owned by 1% of the population. I would even venture to hypothesize that if more of the citizens of Haiti understood these laws, they would be able to turn around the fortunes of their nation DESPITE the unfair policies instituted against it.
By understanding these laws and principles, you will be able to create wealth for yourself no matter where you are, even in a country like Haiti. Also, NO ONE will be able to take that ability from you.
