To offer your guests a token of thanks for being a part of your wedding day does not have to be a huge expense that will eat up a great deal of your budgeted resources. Trying to decide on a relatively inexpensive wedding favor also does not mean a trip to the dollar store or discount bins at a department store. There are many thoughtful, classy and reasonably priced items that don't scream 'cheap'.

Without going over the financial gloom and doom we are all struggling with, it's clear there is a need to shop wisely and be thrifty with every dime we do spend. One traditional way is with a little work on your part, or even you and a team of friends. Invite over a group of creative friends for coffee and snacks or wine and cheese and put them to work. Buy some mints, chocolates or any of your favorite little candy treats in bulk to get a good price and pack them into some beautiful decorative wedding favor boxes.

These come in an assortment of colors and patterns and you will be able to select one, or mix and match to enhance the table decorations and work in your color scheme and theme. Another easy way is to have a gift that serves two purposes. Several small picture frames or coasters that hold photos can be used and place card holders as well. At the reception they will indicate assigned seating and guests taking home these dainty frames can insert them into their home or on their desk at work. A picture frame is lovely little trinket and useful accessory for the wedding day and to be used for days after.

There is nothing wrong with being 'thrifty' at all. Weddings can become an enormous expense if you get carried away with the details. Remember what is important at the end of the day, you married your best friend and you were able to have your family and friends there to share in this important moment. Each of these special guests will be thankful they were there with you and thankful for the inexpensive wedding favor you gave them to express your gratitude.
