Melasma is the result of an increase in pigmentation in various areas of the body, occurring mostly on the face, the back of the hands, forearms and shoulders. More women than men suffer occasional patches, and it is often prevalent in those of Native American and German or Russian descent. These dark, irregular patches appear on the upper cheeks, nose, lips, and between the nose and lips, as well as the forehead of many people after they hit that 40-year old mark, and may take months, or even years, to develop.

Apply the bleaching cream first then the sunscreen on top. Bleaching creams contain hydroquinone, which inhibits formation of new pigment. Bleaching creams take 3 to 6 months to obtain a worthwhile lightening of pigmentation. Stop daily bleaching cream after six months. Tretinoin always causes a degree of pinkness and peeling of the facial skin which can be controlled by starting with a little then building up. It may fade freckles, improve acne and smooth wrinkles. A sun screen must be applied as well. Avoid applying bleaching cream to normal skin as this will lighten as well. Sun protection is very important to minimize sun exposure on the face.

Add a little lemon juice to milk and apply with cotton wool. Mayonnaise can also be applied by itself. It helps to soothe sunburn.
The most common remedies for melasma include chemical peels, laser surgery, and bleaching skin agents. Bleaching agents and sunscreens can be impressive but they are not a guarantee to diminish the spots.
These melasma treatments can lessen the spots but curing is something completely different. Sometimes if melasma sufferers are fortunate, the patches dull with time but if not, advanced treatments need to be carried out in order to return the skin to normal.

This seems like a quick and harmless procedure but the truth is that these ingredients do a lot in interior damage. When someone goes to the seashore or plays golf after applying the skin bleaching elements, the UV rays emitted by the sun will respond with the substances and lead to increased pigmentation changes and the premature onset of fine lines. With the increased pigmentation changes, people become a little tense and apply more cream, it becomes a never ending cycle.

The most common therapies for melasma include chemical peels, laser surgery, and bleaching skin agents. Bleaching creams and sunscreens can be effective but they are not a certainty to erase the spots. These melasma treatments can lessen the spots but curing is something drastically different. Sometimes if melasma sufferers are fortunate, the patches vanish with time but if not, offensive treatments need to be imposed in order to return the skin to normal.
Mild-to-moderate redness, peeling, burning, dryness, or itching may be experienced. People with allergic reactions, such as asthma, to sulfites should not use Tri-Luma(R) Cream. The safety and efficacy of Tri-Luma(R) Cream in patients with skin types V and VI have not been studied. Excessive bleaching resulting in undesirable cosmetic effects in patients with darker skin cannot be excluded.

Seek professional counseling and support if you find yourself becoming very stressed or upset about your condition. Although melasma is not dangerous and leaves no lasting scars, the temporary alteration of your appearance can affect your self esteem and in rare cases led to serious problems such as panic attacks, clinical depression, etc.
