Benzoyl peroxide is the most common and arguably the most effective  ingredient in many a acne treatment product  . Beyond question, there are a cab-oodles of products obtainable on the market that comprise of some sort of a benzoyl peroxide combination along with a concoction of salicylic acid and  other chemicals, benzoyl peroxide wash can be applied successfully  with or without a prescription acne treatment. Benzoyl peroxide obliterates the bacteria that linger on the skin that is caused by the acne. However, it does not lessen the quantity of oil production in the sebaceous glands.

Benzoyl peroxide wash products come in several forms, soaps, liquid wash or cleansers being the most common. If you are applying some sort of benzoyl peroxide wash in the form of liquids, it is crucial to shake it well prior to to use. If used as a cleansing agent, dampen the affected area with some lukewarm water  and then rub the BP wash into the skin, working a lather.

If you are applying it in the shape of liquid wash or soap, apply to  your skin and softly work it in to the skin. But make sure, you work it gently in to the skin without rubbing and scrubbing. This can lead to abrasion. A Benzoyl Peroxide wash can be used in any shape or form,  just be sure that you don't get any in your eyes, hair or clothes and furniture for that matter. Should you be  using a BP wash  prescribed by a  doctor, then you need to follow doctors orders and use it exactly how he tells you to.

Benzoyl Peroxide is powerful stuff that is used to bleach. Be careful with it.  Should you miss a schedule cleaning, don't do to sessions at once; it is better to skip a step instead. Do not use benzoyl peroxide in combination with other cleaning agents without the specific go ahead from your doctor, as this can cause serious skin irritations. Especially if there is some kind of allergic recation. Benzoy Peroxide wash products should not be stored indefinitely, be it soap, liquid wash or whatever. Read the expiration date .  side  effects are quite normal.

The more common ones are dryness, redness and slight skin irritation. If you are starting out with a benzoyl peroxide wash, start with a small dosage, say 2.5% and if you feel that you have to, slowly work your way up to perhaps a 5% dose. In most cases, a 2.5% dose will do the job. More serious side effects include headaches dizziness and extremely irritated skin. If this is the case, you should either quit using benzoyl peroxide based treatments altogether and consult a dermatologist.

Sensitivity to sunlight using Benzoyl Peroxide is quite normal. In the particulary sunny days, you should try to avoid to much direct sunlight to your face, especially right after applying benzoyl peroxide. Large sunglasses are a good way to protect the eye areas and for most people suntan lotion is also a good way of protecting their skin. Obviously, though, if your skin becomes overly irritated with sun screen lotion/benzoyl peroxide wash, then you should avoid to much direct sunlight to the skin altogether. Make sure that there is no history of any allergic reaction to benzoyl peroxide.

To make sure, you can consult a dermatologist first and they can usually determine if there is some kind allergic reaction to the chemical by using simple test.    It is recommended to avoid the usage of other medicated products, if you are using BP wash. While using any kind of benzoyl peroxide product, products containing alcohol, especially if you have very sensitive skin. Most perfumes, after shaves and the likes have alcohol as their main ingredient.

If you think cannot live without perfume or make up, apply it scarcely and if possible find non alcohol based products. There are plenty out there. Pregnant women should always consult a doctor before applying any kind of chemical based product or even herbal treatments for that matter. Acne treatments are no exception.

Using a good benzoyl peroxide wash is a great way to fight acne. Results can be visible in a matter of weeks. Just make sure you stick to what I have outlined in this article and I am sure that benzoyl peroxide will yield some great results for you.

good luck
