In today's world, many events are happening and bad occurrences keep on occurring. And people begin to wonder if there is really a supreme being called God. Some blame Him for the existence of poverty and others say He should have known how to prevent war. Is there really God? If yes, where is He? Is He sleeping while all these happen?
God has revealed unto Man that He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last(Revelation 1:8, 11; 21:6, 22:13). He knows all things and right from the beginning He knows the end. This is how God operates. Before bringing out this point clearly; in relation to this issue, we can stop by a little to fully grasp this divine feature of God.
John11:1-46talks about the resurrection of Lazarus from the dead by Jesus Christ. Verse 6 tells us that when Jesus Christ heard Lazarus was sick, he deliberately stayed back for two days. Why? We can find the answer in verse 11b "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up" and in verses 14 and 15 'Then Jesus said to them plainly, Lazarus is dead and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless, let us go to him" Now you will realize that right from the onset, Jesus was already operating on the future for the name of God to be glorified and for people to believe by allowing Lazarus to die and be resurrected later.
Jeremiah29:11makes it so clear that God's plans for us are not of evil but of good to give us an expected end. He determines the beginning and the end, regardless of the middle. The middle may be rough or even smooth or both due to lots of reasons; all we need do is focus and trust in the Lord for our resurrection from such problems. There are several reasons why people suffer from poverty. Maybe they are lazy and refuse to take up responsibilities or they are still in the 'middle' process of reaching their end. End here does not mean death, but your final 'bus-stop' where God wants you to be. Of course, we face such difficult moments as trials to show our faith. There is no process with different stages without a test. Even in school, before moving to the next level, you have to be tried. But it does not mean the test will last for long. So, at any given time, you find people in poverty, they are in that state for different reasons and of course, those who are still in their 'middle' journey will definitely come out of it.
What about war? Why can't God prevent it?Matthew24:6-8tells us of Jesus' prophecy on wars, rumors of wars etc on the last days. Does that mean God wanted war right from the beginning?Revelation22:11asays that evil people will keep on being evil and everyone who is dirty-minded will still be dirty-minded. And other portions of the Bible stated that many shall be lovers of themselves in the last days. These are attributes which can easily bring about conflicts and hence wars. Analyze the reasons of wars and rumors of it in our present world and compare them with the Bible verses above if they correspond. What then do you want God to do? Come down from Heaven and make the evil ones good? Or you want Him to destroy the bad ones? He is merciful and HE is giving them time to repent
We can limit this broad perspective to our own personal lives. We are not always getting a bed of roses from Life. Sometimes we face difficulties and they could even go so extreme that we think God has left us! We should never think so. He is already at the good 'end' waiting for us to reach so therefore He will always be with us even in bad times, because His expectation is for us just as He waited for Lazarus to die before He came to resurrect Him, He will ensure that particular problem you're facing has a permanent solution.
So therefore, War and poverty are not reasons to believe God does not care. Look at these two situations critically and you will realize that they are all Human disasters. Count the poorest countries in the world today and they are the ones blessed with World natural resources from whom? From God Himself! So do you want God to come down and help them manage what He has given to them? The poorest continent is the richest in natural resources with little occurrences of natural disasters and yet its people cannot manage its resources. Please do not blame that on God!
Finally, assuming everyone was rich and wants to live in a mansion, who will build these mansions? Who will manufacture products? Who will indulge in the important manual labor? Definitely no one would want to do it for anyone especially to earn money because we all have it. That's the point. All situations of Life is what makes the world balanced and go round, so God in His infinite wisdom knows what He is doing.
