It's been discovered, that gum diseases could be a root cause of heart attacks and strokes, in many people. A regular dental cleaning every 6 months is a must for good dental and oral hygiene. It could most probably, reduce other health conditions like, oral cancer, heart disease and strokes, as well. Many people with diabetes, often have some form of dental problems, like gum disease, due to high blood glucose. They must follow thorough brushing and flossing routines, to prevent any gum disease.

People with dentures, are more likely to suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease, also known as edentulous. It affects blood pressure (causing heart disease), contributes to kidney failure, and weakens bones.

Foods with a high sugar and starch contents like, cakes, ice cream, honey, acidic drinks, must be avoided. Sugary and sticky food, are difficult to be removed from the teeth, leading to our dental problems.

Brushing and flossing thoroughly always help to prevent any dental problems and gum disease. For any severe problems, you must consult your dentist, for a complete check up. Dental hygiene is all about keeping your mouth and teeth healthy, by proper brushing and flossing routines.

Always, choose an antiseptic mouthwash to be used, regularly, after every brushing and/or flossing to stop plaque-forming bacteria. It refreshes your mouth, especially if you have a bad smell.

Improper dental, oral hygiene and bad eating habits contribute towards conditions, like dental decay, tartar, gingivitis and periodontitis. Plaque is formed as result of sugary and starchy food, that you eat every day. It may lead to release of an acid, making teeth surface, really rough and crusty. This acid would corrode the tooth enamel and make holes or cavities in the tooth.

Plaque accumulation, contributes in the formation of a yellow or brown mineral deposit called tartar or calculus. It spreads on to gums, thus adding to further problems.

Inflammation of the gums causes gingivitis, which is quite common in pregnant women. Women with periodontal disease are more likely to have a baby born preterm compared to women, without any gum disease.

Periodontitis is an extreme form of gum disease, which causes destruction of structures that support the teeth. This would lead to tooth loss. This condition causes redness, swelling and bleeding gums. Some people might have widening spaces between the teeth and exposing their roots, which can cause decay.

Plaque or calculus can be removed, by way of scaling, by your dentist or hygienist. Many dentists would advise chlorhexidine gluconate, a mouth rinse, ideal for removing any disease causing bacteria, from your mouth.

SonicCare uses superior cleaning technology for great cleaning and better plaque removal between teeth.

I first started using a soniccare toothbrush after it was recommended to me by my dentist. They noticed my teeth were cleaner and whiter at my next dental cleaning. Now my entire family uses Soniccare.
