Fever blisters can cause you unwanted discomfort, pain and embarassment.

You may have already heard that the fever blister virus actually do not go away once you get infected. However, that painful realization must never keep you from looking for fever blister remedies to lessen your discomfort.

You can't change anything about how a cold sore attack looks like and behaves. But, there are ways to speed up the healing, minimize the discomfort, and keep another outbreak from occuring once more.

Some Fever Blister Remedy Suggestions

· Protect the cold sores area always with petroleum based products. Petroleum jelly is useful because it can speed up the healing process and shield your cold sores from the possibility of bacterial infection.

· Keep out of salty and citrus foods. Acidic and salty foods such as citrus fruits and chips can only lead to further irritation and more discomfort.

· Dab on some over-the-counter drug such as a local anaesthetic ointment to numb the discomfort you are going through. You can also reach out for some paracetamol or ibuprofen when fever blisters get too painful to endure.

· Avoid too much stress. Emotional upset and physical stress may trigger another attack so you must avoid stress at all costs. You must know how you can properly deal with your stress factors. Doing de-stressing activities including meditation or even simple exercises like walking can minimize your risk for suffering from another fever blister attack.

· Herbal fever blister remedies. Herbs such as sage, aloe vera and tea tree oil are also effective in treating cold sores. These herbs possess natural anti-viral properties to help get rid of your fever blisters.

Without treatment, cold sore infections mostly go away after about 10-14 days. The outbreak usually subsides without marking any visible scars on the blistered areas. You may choose to wait it out if you are patient enough naturally.

However, if you want to put an end to those bothersome sores earlier and keep the discomfort to a minimum, go ahead and try one or more of the suggestions above.

It is best to intervene immediately with treatment when the you feel the first signs of a cold sore attack. The earlier you manage your fever blisters, the fewer problems you will have.
