What if you live in a small town where house prices have fallen since the recession and how long do you figure it will take to sell your family home if your marriage has just ended? Other people who have been selling in the area have probably been sitting on their properties for ages so you may well end up in the same situation. What options do you and your ex have? You could sell the house below value and split for good or you could stay living together till you were able to find a serious buyer. If you have chosen the second option then there will be a lot to sort out. You may have to put up with the opinions of the town people concerning your new living arrangement and some family members will probably put in their two cents worth as well. It will be a new experience finding the answers to so many questions. Hopefully most people will see that you are trying to make the best of the situation. For that you should be commended, as living with an ex would not be that easy. There are always going to be times in our lives when decisions we make do not agree with everyone. Living together while seeking a divorce is bound to have its advocates and also its opposition. If you have come to the conclusion that this is the best move for your family then it is a brave step. In a town like this just getting a divorce would probably raise some eyebrows. In a small town any new thinking may take a little persuasion but the alternative may leave your family destitute. A lot of people lost their jobs in towns like this and still find it really hard to make ends meet. It comes down to survival in the end and many folk who have stayed living together in this arrangement should not ever be criticized. They are only doing what they think is in the best interest of their loved ones.
