Lovastatin (Mevacor) is medicine which is used for lowering cholesterol in those with hypercholesterolemia and so preventing cardiovascular disease. It is made from the food such as oyster mushrooms and red yeast rice. Reducing cholesterol and triglycerides help prevent strokes and heart attacks. lovastatin medicine is used by adults and children (10 years of age and older). Young girls must have had their menstrual periods for at least one year before starting this medication. Lovastatin is a white, nonhygroscopic crystalline powder that is insoluble in water and sparingly soluble in ethanol, methanol, and acetonitrile. It is a beneficial with some side effects. Each tablet contains the following inactive element: cellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate, and starch. Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is added as a preservative. Mostly all medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects.
