LOVE IN ISLAM
The words ‘Love and Islam' are very harmonious and perfectly matching, though the bulk of mankind thinks that there is no such this as love in Islam! but surprisingly, one of the attributes and names of the Almighty God in Islam is ‘Al Wadood' which means ‘the most Loving'it doesn't mean that ‘God is love', but rather, His Love is a continual and never ending.
Allah's love in Islam extends to His other characteristics like for example ‘the most Merciful and the Most Gracious'. When such noble attributes work together, we find that Allah guides with that love and that mercy those who are lost and thirsty for Allah's infinite ocean of compassion and love.
There are a lot of things in which Allah loves, he loves for instance the believers who stick to His commands and follow His instructions and guidance. He even loves those who have sinned and later came back to Him in sincere repentance.
A matter of fact is that when the Muslims meet each other or departs, they exchange salutations of peace and love that even Non Muslims recognize, and that is ‘Assalamo Alikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh' which means ‘May peace, mercy and blessings of Almighty God be upon you'and in many other cases, between these meetings and departures we declare our love to one another by saying ‘Ana Uhibuka fillah' which means ‘I love you for the sake of Allah'. Loving one another for the sake of God Almighty is the supreme gate for earning Allah's love. In other words, if you want Allah to love you, then love others for His sake only.
Just try and practice this attitude and you will notice the difference, try to love without waiting for something in return, but rather expect the reward form the One whose love was bestowed upon you the moment you love others for His sake.
What are the benefits of loving one another for the sake of Allah? The Prophet MuhammadPBUHtold us that on the Day of Judgment,7people will be protected under the shade of Allah, where there will be no other shade, except His only shade, and one of these people is someone who loves for the sake of Allah. So hurry up and book your place under Allah's shade by loving one another for the sake of the Almighty God.
