Humanity has ever sped forward. In the west we have a totally different view of what medication really is. For science, the spiritual aspect is generally left to people to decide on and label. This unbiased view though is a great position has caused the continuance of many health problems.
This article may have some controversial thoughts on health, and your views may differ. I suggest you read with an open mind, so you can find the truth for yourself. This is important because science does not include the spiritual. The psychologist looks at your brain, rather than the true aspects of your mind.
Freedom comes from awareness. When you see a problem, you can fix it, but when you can't see that problem, there is no way to fix it. How many thousands of people have mental health problems? Whether that be depression or schizophrenia?
Science has held an impartial view. They have left the spiritual aspects to mystics and prophets. This neglect however has caused many problems. The pills that doctors proscribe do not take into account the spiritual factor. This is important, and as repetition is the mother of all skill, and then it is important to realize this.
* What Is Meditation Meditation is medication. In many eastern countries - meditation is medication; it is a part of daily life. Meditation helps centre the mind, and bring piece of mind.
* How Meditation Is Medication For people with mental health problems, the view in the west is that you either talk to someone or you take something - usually in the form of a pill or some other drug.
These drugs don't help people in most cases. An analogy of this is to think about a place or room that has a foul smell - perhaps someone cooked kippers! Now the solution that many would do would be to spray some air freshener. Though it masks the smell, the smell is still there.
The pills prescribed do similar things. In most cases they only mask, and don't resolve. This is not just a problem with the doctors that we should argue with. It comes back to us. If a doctor suggested to someone to meditate, this would cause more people to ask for a second opinion than if a doctor said that something was terminal.
Why would people simply take the advice of the doctor on a terminal case, and not seek a second opinion, whereas someone prescribed meditate for 15 minutes every day would get the patient wanting another doctor and a second opinion?
Many people have long ago without thinking about it, placed all the faith on science. The science is not bad, but needs to be put into perspective. Doctors don't want to deal with spirituality; they want to deal with giving you something rock solid - a pill. People have taken this without thinking about it. However, never have you heard that the spiritual dimension is just as important a part of health as your physical body, because it is not the doctor's place.
You must take control for understanding that yes you have a physical body, but mind and the spiritual dimension also play a part of this. Balance can be found with meditation, and meditation can be your medication.
Always seek the advice of your doctor, if you are on any medication do not change because of what you have just read. This article is simply informing you of an added dimension, that being the spiritual and the importance of meditation in life, and should not be seen as one which you should necessarily follow.
