The title for this article may have given you an idea on which gender is more concerned regarding the urinary bladder cancer. Do you know that the incidence rate of this kind of cancer on men is about three times more than in women? Whatever your gender is, a urinary bladder cancer may affect your life. But first, can you locate your urinary bladder?

Why would this body part will have a cancer in the first place? The exact cause of this cancer is still unknown but it should likely to occur if you can find malignant cells on the bladder specifically on its layers. Malignant on this sense means cells do not die but it form a mass that will later affect and even spread to other organs of your body.  That mass is what we called a tumor which can be removed at early stages.

However, in critical stages, the cancer cells spread and it hinders the normal functions of your body's system and tends to shut down causing death. This is quite scary especially since the American Cancer Society claims that one of 30 males has a chance of developing the urinary bladder cancer while females have one of 90 chances.
Older people, smokers and people exposed to certain chemicals as well as to tropical parasites are at higher risk. If you think you have the disease, don't lose hope yet. If ever the cancer is detected early, there is a good chance of curing the disease.

Based on studies, there could be about 85% chance of survival for all those with an early detection. That's an outstanding thing, right? All you need to do is always to be aware of the signs and symptoms of this malignancy.  How to find the symptoms that you should looked out for? The most common symptom is blood in the urine. Naturally, this abnormality may indicate other infections but it will likely be a great help for being evaluated by a physician if you ever experienced it.

Other signs are urinary urgency, pain on urination, back or abdominal pain, weight loss, and loss of appetite. If you have these signs, better be checked by a urologist who could perform other tests to rule out cancer. He will most likely ask your medical history; do some examination on your blood and urine, perform x-ray tests as well as a biopsy.

When you are diagnosed to have urinary bladder cancer, your treatment will depend upon the growth, size and location of the tumor along with your overall health. If in case you have a complicated case, the specialist team will take excellent care of you.
