MENOPAUSE : SYMPTOMS AND HELP

Menopause is not a disease condition but rather a time in a woman's life when she stops seeing her normal menstruation which means that it is expected that women at this stage would loose their power to procreate.
The fact that women at this stage might not be able to conceive a baby (GET PREGNANT) is not just the real issue but certain other conditions that come with menopause which are not pleasant experiences.
These unpleasant conditions experienced by women who reach menopause are therefore summarized as the symptoms of menopause.
Through up-to date researches, help is now available for the conditions that affect menopausal women.

(a)    Hot flashes
This is a condition most commonly experienced during menopause. This has been found to be caused by among other things spicy foods so it could be overcome by limiting spicy food to the barest minimum.

(b)    weight gain
This can be best dealt with through good dietary habits. Indulge in feasting more on fresh fruits and vegetable. Abstain from unhealthy fatty foods.

©   Osteoporosis
This is another common condition at menopause.  Loss of bone mass called osteoporosis can be effectively dealt with by consuming food rich in calcium content. Some raw preparation of calcium can be taken in extreme cases. 1,200mg of calcium coupled with 800IU of Vitamin D are daily recommendation to maintain bone density.

(d)    Vaginal Dryness
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) could be helpful to fight symptoms  that tend to be hormonal in original but not without side effects. A personal physician must be consulted for proper guidance if HRT must be utilized in taking care of some menopausal symptoms.

The use of exercise in the case of menopause can not be over-emphasized. Regular exercise helps to improve the general well-being of women after menopause. Such exercise could help restore the normal bone density. It would be useful in normalizing the body's metabolism which helps to keep down weight gain.

Generally women are advised at this point to keep a daily record of food consumed and
activities involved in as this would help to identify natural triggers of unpleasant experiences e.g. hot flashes. For more information on treatment of menopausal symptoms , visit .
