Although you may get over from a miscarriage physically in a small period of time but it is not that easy to overcome psychological effects due to miscarriage and may consume more time. The best way to deal with this difficult time for woman is to understand the reason behind their miscarriage. They should understand the cause of it.

Most of the woman even do not know what exacly is miscarriage and what are its causes. Some people have a myth that miscarriages are an uncommon reason for termination of pregnancy which is not true. Most of the miscarriages occur during the first twelve weeks or first trimester of pregnancy.

What ever be the reason behind miscarriage, you would feel better once you understand the reason behind miscarriage. It is basically loss of pregnancy before the gestation of twenty weeks. It is also known as spontaneous abortion.

Causes of miscarriage may be many. Miscarriage may occur due to accidental or natural preganancy termination. You can get over from a miscarriage if you understand the cause behind it. In most of the cases, abnormal development of embryo is the main cause of early miscarriages. Various factors such as infection, cervical problems, trauma, fetal abnormalities etc. are responsible for second trimester miscarriages.

One of the best way to learn about the trauma that you experienced is by reading books on miscarriage. Once you understand its meaning and cause, it would help you get over from your miscarriage. You may even seek professional help or browse websites for the same.

You can provide emotional and educational support to someone who had a miscarriage. Nowadays, it has been observed that the rate of miscarriage is increasing. Therefore, there are chances that you would have someone around you who would need support and information to get over miscarriage.

Some people use common phrases that they consider would sympathize woman who suffered miscarriage but this is not true. Some of such phrases are:

1) “At least you didn't get to know your baby first.”
2) “It was for the best.”
3) “You can always have another baby.”
4) “Something must have been wrong.”
5) “Be grateful for the children you already have.”


Remember, not to use such sensitive phrases with any woman or couple who is trying to get over from a miscarriage. When someone is trying to overcome the situation of miscarriage, these words are like striking a sore spot instead of providing comfort to them. Best way would be to use sincere and simple words that shows your concern. You may simply feel sorry for what has happened or support them by telling them that you are willing to help them and is available whenever they need.
